These are the talking points that AILA is suggesting for calls made to the Senators, as one can see AILA's focus is broad and I'm not sure how else they could have been of help when they are doing essentially what IV is doing ie calling, faxing or lobbying with a broad based approach. They possibly could put IV's news releases or messages as part of what has been sent to the Senate. I urge everyone visit this link (http://www.aila.org/RecentPosting/RecentPostingList.aspx) and see what pro-immigrant groups are doing or saying which is not significantly different from what IV is doing :
Call your Senators (http://capwiz.com/aila2/callalert/index.tt?alertid=8554496&type=CO)
(please call between 9am & 5pm)
Ask For: Immigration Staffer
Talking Points:
1) Tell your Senator to support the Judiciary Committee's comprehensive immigration reform bill!
2) Tell them that we need a workable solution and path to eventual permanent status for the 12 million undocumented!
3) Tell them that we need a new temporary worker program that offers labor protections and a path to permanent status!
4) Tell them that the family and employment backlog provisions in the Chairman's Mark are good and should remain in the bill!
5) Tell them that full access to the Circuit Courts of Appeal must be preserved!

I was debating the fact that we need to ask India government to device some sort of parity between Capital acceptance from U.S. firms. It takes us, who respresent Intellectual capital, 5 to 6 years to get some kind of permanent residency in U.S. and that too in a grudging manner. Why do U.S. MNCs demand immediate clearence of their projects and complain about delay etc. If you look at comparative delays, Indian system is still light years ahead of so called efficient American system. Its just that we need to look at things from a correct perspective. Monetary capital needs to be treated at par with Intellectual capital. Just a thought.

Do you really agree with multi-national managers(via L1A). This is the area wherein the interpretation is pretty loose. If you dissect EB1 data you would find that EB1C used bulk of it except for this year due to bad economy and tightening of screws. There should be some very clearly defined guidelines for EB1-C, somebody being an onsite coordinator or managing 5 people should not be eligible. This category should be reserved for those who are managing at least 100 people or control business in several millions. I agree that EB1 should be just for the exceptional.
Exactly. There seems to be a mis-conception, which to a large extent has been fueled by some unethical companies, that being on L1A and having a gaggle of a few developers at client sites makes one "exceptional" and eligible for EB1.
If somebody feels they should qualify for EB-2 after X years of experience, well, reason it out with your employer and re-file. I went through this. Restarted the whole process..labor and the whole shebang...to file in EB2 just because I was unable to convince the HR manager at one of my previous employers. That is the reason my PD is Oct 2006 and not July 2003.

welcome to the world of retrogression. it is only going to get worse from here on out.
with the deluge of filings in june/july and aug. this year....the retrogression will get worse. USCIS will not make the same mistake again.
How the hell can all the catagories after EB3 be current yet EB3 be back logged???? By rights they should be unavilable until we are current.
This is just so unfair.
i can not put in to words just how anoyed i am right now.

first of all congrats. but i have a question.
you said you are EB3 ROW (Bangladesh) but you applied your I-485 on June 29, 2007 with a Priority Date of Feb 06.
But on June 2007 (just before the VB fiasco) the Visa Bulletin for EB3 ROW was caught up to June 05 (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3236.html). But your EB3 ROW PD is Feb 06. So how is that possible?
Only EB2 ROW is current. Are you sure you are not EB2? You can confirm this by looking at your 140 notice. Otherwise you must have sent out your application June 29 (Fri) in the hope of reaching USCIS by July 1 or 2 (Sun or Mon). That's the only way I could make sense of this.
Either way man, your stars must all lined up or something man. You are indeed very lucky.
the reason I am pestering you is becoz I too am EB3 ROW with PD of Mar 06 and I filed on Aug with an approved 140. I am now kicking myself for not mailing out June 29 Fri.

What will students get out of it? Their Green cards are not stuck? Are you offering them H1B visa that they desperately want? They do not care about Green cards. They only care for scholarship, a job after graduation and H1B sponsorship from the employer. You are offering nothing from this list.
People whose green cards are stuck should come rather than outsourcing to students?
If we cannot help ourselves and stand up for ourselves, nobody else would.
I am trying to take at least a day off from work. I would lose money from my wages if I take day off but I am ready to lose money for the sake of doing something good for myself and family. Others who are sitting on their armchairs should also consider coming to DC if they want their greencards.
True, the students graduating this year or early next year probably won't get anything out of it except for an exercise in PR. However, students who have just started off with their studies here and have 2-3 years before graduation can definitely gain a lot if the CIR is passed. Also, a lot of these student organizations have the contact details of their past members, members who are now working mostly in the US and these organizations can contact those members requesting them to join in this advocacy.
It is really nice of you to be taking at least a day out of your work and losing some money in the process. The fact is that all of us waiting for the GC are losing a lot of money already, especially those who have remained with the same I-140. A lot of us are losing money because the wait for GC has stopped our career growth and we'll continue to lose money/growth opportunities if we don't motivate enough people to join this advocacy. Some of us may not be able to join the advocacy efforts at DC in person due to genuine reasons, but that does not mean we start throwing satires at them.

I agree that we MUST educate them.
Most of them do not know anything about L1. They think only about H1. I have been to my Congressman's office several times and have written numerous letters (not emails but printed and signed letters, as they have a better impact).
Requst one and all to do that. CIR is dead now. What next? can we debate?
Cheers!
Politicians are very well aware of our issues; they just don't want to provide a solution because of the hispanic caucus.

Would you please elaborate if the flower campaign has hit any mainstream media like CNN, Fox etc?? Or just the TOI and other small covers? I just want to know how famous this has become.. Thanks.
The flower campaign is apparently working as far as the attention the issue is getting.
If we can manage to send at least 500-700 flowers to USCIS, that will create the kind of attention we want and it will bring the issue of retrogression again on the forefront in Washington DC.
PLEASE PLEASE send the flowers to USCIS director Emilio Gonzalez. For details on sending, address and the message on the message card, read this thread :

Efiled @ TSC on may 29th.
FP on june 28th, still no approval.
My current EAD expires September 24th and i am working on EAD currently.
Called USCIS and opened a SR on August 4th. Got a letter on August 11th, saying, although my situation is serious, i have not provided enough proof. Called USCIS August 13th, asking where i can mail the proof. Was told there is no mailing address and no fax number.
Scheduled an Infoapss Appt. for August 18th, by then it will be around 82 days.
Around the 90th day planning to meet my Congressman/Senator and hoping they could help me.
If some one can help me in finding fax number to TSC to send in my Expedite request it will be great.
